Revolution Theme será Open Source

Nos ultimos dias tem-se falando bastante disto na blogosfera internacional.
Os criadores do Revolution Theme, um excelente premium theme para wordpress, decidiram tomar uma decisão radical e tornar o pack Revolution Open Source com uma licença GPL a partir do dia 1 de Novembro.

Os themes actuais deixarão de existir e de acordo com o responsável nunca mais serão colocados disponiveis para download como forma de proteger a integridade e investimento de quem pagou para ter um Revolution Theme.

As of 12:00 midnight, Friday October 31st, the themes that are currently available at the Revolution theme site will no longer be available. Ever. This was a decision that I made in order to protect the integrity of the current themes and the conditions under which they were released. Over the past year I have built a community of Revolution users, and to freely offer up those themes would be completely unfair to them. My community matters to me, and this is how I have chosen to handle current themes.

So what does this mean? It means that as of Saturday November 1st, a completely new Revolution site will launch - call it the second coming, or what you will. There will be a new set of themes on that website, which like I said will be made available under the GPL license. There will be an option to purchase packages which include support, tutorials, access to customization and a few other things.

A partir do dia 1 de Novembro existirá uma novo site, com novos themes sub uma licença GPL.
É uma mudança de modelo de negocio que é esperada visto que a venda de themes premium é algo que, regra geral, não funciona como esperado a longo prazo mesmo actualizando os themes.

Espero agora por dia 1 de Novembro para ver as alterações, se os novos themes incorporarem a excelência dos trabalhos do WpElements e dos Revolution Theme então espera-se algo verdadeiramente deslumbrante.

Lembro que o Revolution Theme foi pioneiro em usar o Magazine Style layout para um blog, influencia essa que criou uma nova tendência por toda a blogosfera.
